DEMOSaguaro Sands Marketplace is a fictional demo — vendors, products, and venue details are imaginary.

Twelve stalls. One smell of carnitas.

The Food Court

It's why a lot of folks come, even if they don't end up buying anything else.

Saguaro Sands has had a food court since 1996, when we knocked down the south wall and put a vent hood where the second hangar door used to be. Today there are twelve stalls under that hood. Most have been here long enough that the regulars order without looking at the menu.

What’s worth ordering

Sabor Latino Kitchen

Booth F-01 · Tamales, Carnitas, Aguas

Abuela Maria’s tamale cart, three generations later. Pork in banana leaf is the order — same recipe since 1992, weighed by hand, steamed in the back room. Sells out before close every Saturday. Esme runs it now.

Reyes Family Birria

Booth F-04 · Birria, Quesatacos, Consommé

Yes, the family. Hector’s brother Tomás opened this stall in 2019. Order the quesatacos with a side of consommé. Sundays get a goat birria special starting at noon, posted on the chalkboard out front.

Booth F-06 · Pho, Bún, Bánh Mì

Lan Nguyen has run this stall since 2007. She makes the broth on-site starting at 5am every Friday and serves it through Sunday close. Specialty bowl is the brisket pho — extra tendon if you ask nicely.

El Charro Tacos logo

El Charro Tacos

Booth F-08 · Tacos, Burritos, Tortas

Three-taco plate with rice, beans, and a Jarritos for ten bucks. The al pastor is sliced off the trompo to order — get there before 1pm or it’s gone.

The Elote Stand logo

The Elote Stand

Booth F-10 · Corn, Esquites, Mangoneadas

Corn on a stick, mayo and Tajín, queso fresco on top. Or in a cup if you don’t want to commit. Mangoneadas on hot days — frozen mango with chili-lime, the only acceptable response to a 108° Saturday.

The Churro Cart

Booth F-12 · Churros, Buñuelos, Café

Fried-to-order, never sit longer than three minutes. Filled churros (cajeta, chocolate, strawberry) added in 2022. The café con leche is shockingly good for a swap meet.
